An indie developer has taken the unprecedented step to withdraw their sport from The Recreation Awards, after they stated it was incorrectly nominated for Greatest Debut Indie Recreation.

Vedinad, solo developer of Vampire Survivors-style rougelike, Megabonk, shared the information on the sport’s social channels on Tuesday, noting that they’d beforehand labored on video games beneath a unique identify, in order that they really feel their nomination shouldn’t qualify.

“I’m withdrawing from The Recreation Awards,” they wrote. “It’s an honor and a dream for Megabonk to be nominated for TGA, however sadly, I don’t suppose it qualifies for the class ‘Debut Indie Recreation’.”
