This 12 months’s Grammy award winner for one of the best online game soundtrack of the 12 months has been introduced.
In the course of the award ceremony final evening, it was introduced that this 12 months’s Grammy for Greatest Rating Soundtrack for Video Video games and Different Interactive Media went to Winifred Phillips’ rating for Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord.
Phillips has been composing the music for video video games for 20 years now, along with her earlier works together with the scores for God of Battle, LittleBigPlanet 2 and three, Sackboy: A Large Journey and Murderer’s Creed 3: Liberation.
Whereas Phillips has received quite a few awards for her work through the years, it’s her music for Wizardry – Digital Eclipse‘s 3D remake of the traditional 1981 RPG – that’s delivered her first ever Grammy award.
Wizardry’s rating beat out fellow nominees Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (composed by Pinar Toprak), God of Battle Ragnarök: Valhalla (Bear McCreary), Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (John Paesano) and Star Wars Outlaws (Wilbert Roget II).
This was the third time the Greatest Rating Soundtrack for Video Video games and Different Interactive Media award had been featured within the Grammy Awards, having made its debut on the 2023 ceremony.
The inaugural winner of the award in 2023 was Murderer’s Creed Valhalla, adopted by Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in 2024.
Bear McCreary is the one composer to have been nominated for this explicit Grammy for all three years it’s been operating, however he’s but to win one.
Elsewhere throughout the ceremony, jazz orchestra The 8-Bit Large Band was nominated within the Greatest Association, Devices and Vocals class for its cowl of Persona 5 monitor Final Shock, however did not win the award.
