Epic Video games CEO Tim Sweeney has implied that AI might “allow video games like Future to thrive”.
In a publish on X (previously Twitter), Sweeney replied to a report on Future 2 with, “If just some type of newfangled know-how might come alongside and make it doable to beat bullet level #1 and allow video games like Future to thrive!”
Sweeney has not too long ago gone on the document saying that he believes it’s “actually irresponsible” of Steam to make studios disclose AI use.
In June 2026, it was introduced that Epic’s Unreal Engine 6 will combine AI instruments to “drastically cut back the tedious work” in recreation growth.
Sweeney’s publish features a screenshot of the Forbes article he’s replying to, which states that Future “was solely very hardly ever worthwhile throughout its total lifespan” as a result of “monumental scale of content material that needed to be produced nonstop.”
The implication is that AI might in some way streamline the method of making, or maybe even solely generate, the content material that Future gamers needed.
Apparently, Sweeney uncared for to answer to the article’s different said cause that Future failed, which claims that Future’s interval of profitability led to money being “instantly misused by management on the time.”
In August 2024, former Bungie employees requested then-CEO Pete Parsons to step down, accusing him of being “a liar, a thief, and so many issues we are able to’t focus on publically [sic].”
Sweeney isn’t any stranger to strong-worded outbursts. In March 2024, Sweeney referred to as Valve executives “assholes” in an electronic mail chain revealed throughout an antitrust lawsuit filed towards Valve.
