A person has been arrested in Japan for threatening to explode Nintendo’s headquarters in Kyoto.
As reported by KTV Information (and translated by Automaton), the 27-year-old man is from town of Hekinan in Japan’s Aichi Prefecture, round 100 miles from Kyoto.
The person, who’s reportedly unemployed, was arrested on suspicion of obstructing enterprise, after he despatched envelopes to Nintendo‘s HQ threatening to blow it up with explosives.
In accordance with the report, the envelopes contained messages similar to “I’m going to blow you all up” and “my plans can’t be thwarted”.
After receiving the envelopes, Nintendo contacted police on March 16, and officers searched the world for explosives however couldn’t discover something.
Though nothing suspicious was discovered on Nintendo’s premises, the person has reportedly admitted the fees, and police are mentioned to be investigating his motives.
That is the newest instance of Nintendo’s Japanese workers being threatened with violence. In April 2024, 27-year-old Kenshin Kazama was arrested for sending a complete of 39 threats through the inquiry type on Nintendo’s official web site over a three-month interval.
Kazama was accused of claiming “I’ll make you remorse bringing such a shitty recreation into this world”, threatening to “kill everybody concerned” and saying “watch out about occasions which have spectators in attendance”.
Though it wasn’t clear what recreation he was referring to, it’s believed to be Splatoon 3, since a number of the threats have been aimed on the Splatoon Koshien 2023 Nationwide Finals.
The threats led to the cancellation of the Splatoon Finals and Nintendo Dwell 2024, which have been set to happen in Tokyo in December 2023 and January 2024 respectively. Kazama was given a suspended one-year jail sentence.
